Checklist: Simple Smart

This policy covers the app Checklist: Simple Smart (체크리스트: 심플 스마트 on the Korean store listings), published by Wishmon Inc. M8M Labs, which appears as wishmon on Google Play and as M8M Labs on the App Store. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Wishmon Inc. M8M Labs. On the home screen the app is named Checklist.

Summary

Your lists never reach us unless you email them to us yourself. The app has no account and no sign-in, and it does not connect to any server. It has no analytics, no crash reporting and no ads. The Android app does not request internet access.

What you enter is kept in the app's storage on your device. A copy can leave the device in two ways, both described below: your device's own backup, and anything you choose to share, export or email.

What the app can access

Its own storage, and the clipboard when you copy or paste. The app asks for no permissions: not the camera, photos, contacts, location, calendar, microphone or notifications.

What the app stores

• The sentence you type to start a list.
• Your lists: their sections and items, dates, notes, and what you have ticked.
• The templates you save.
• Your answers to Something you forgot? and Something you never used? after a list is finished.
• When each list was created, changed, completed or archived, and an ID and a time for each recent deletion, without what was deleted.
• Only if the stored data ever cannot be read in full: a copy of it as it was, kept so that nothing in it is lost. It stays until you uninstall the app.

All of it is kept in the app's own storage on your device. Other apps cannot read it, and the app never sends it to us.

Device backup. When your device's backup is on, as it is by default on most phones, a copy of this app's data goes to your own Google or Apple account, encrypted, with the rest of the backup. A new device restored from that backup gets your lists back. A backup made before you uninstall the app can keep a copy after the app is gone, until your device or account deletes that backup. We cannot read it. Backup is a device setting: Settings → Google → Backup on Android (the path varies by device), and Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup on iPhone and iPad.

Widget

If you add the app's widget, it shows the first list on your Lists tab, which is sorted by date; archived and finished lists are left out. Depending on its size, the widget shows the list's title, the countdown to its date, how many items are done, and up to three of the next items not yet done.

You can add it to the home screen on Android, iPhone and iPad, and to the Lock Screen on iPhone and iPad. On iPhone and iPad the widget needs iOS 17 or later. A home screen widget can also appear in Today View and, on iPhone, in StandBy. On the Lock Screen, in Today View and in StandBy, anyone holding the device can read it without unlocking it.

The widget appears only where you add it, and removing it takes it away. To hide what a Lock Screen widget shows until the device is unlocked, turn off Lock Screen Widgets under Settings → Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode) → Allow Access When Locked.

The app keeps a summary of that list for the widget, in storage only the app and its widget can read. It saves the summary when the app opens and whenever your lists change, even if you have not added a widget. Like the rest of the app's data, the summary is never sent to us, can be included in your device backup, and is removed from the device when you uninstall the app.

Sharing, export and import

Share as text, in the menu at the top of an open list, sends that list as plain text through your device's share sheet: its title, date, sections and items, which items are done, due dates, and the first line of each item's note. The rest of a note is not included.

Export everything, in Settings, puts your lists, the templates you saved and your answers after finished lists in one file. Share the file hands that file to the share sheet. Copy to clipboard puts the same text on the clipboard, where any app you paste into can read it.

Whoever receives a shared or exported copy, and any app or service it passes through, can read it. This policy does not cover those copies. Nothing is shared or exported unless you tap one of these.

Import, in Settings, reads an export that you paste in. It adds the lists and templates that are not already on the device, adds the answers that are new, and never deletes anything.

Report a problem

Settings → Report a problem opens a draft email to us in your own mail app, with the app version and your device's system version filled in. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and it goes through your mail provider, not through the app. The draft does not include your lists. If the draft cannot be opened, the app copies our address to the clipboard instead.

We use these emails only to reply and to fix the problem, and we delete one when you ask.

Deleting your data

• A list: Delete in its menu (the ⋯ on its row in Lists, or the ⋯ at the top of the list). Finished lists are under Finished lists at the foot of Lists.
• An item: swipe it to the left, or long-press it and tap Delete.
• A template you saved: open it under Templates and tap the delete icon.
• An answer from a finished list: Settings → Remembered items, then tap the × next to it.
• Everything: uninstall the app. That removes everything it stored on the device, the widget summary included. A copy in an earlier device backup is kept or deleted by your device and account, as described above.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children. It sends no information about anyone to us, children included.

Changes

If a version of the app changes what happens to your data, this page is updated before that version is published, and the date above changes with it.
