Photo Frame Slideshow, by Wishmon Inc. M8M Labs, plays photos and videos you pick as a full-screen slideshow on an Android phone or tablet, or on an iPhone or iPad. Where the two differ, the steps below say which is which.

Getting started

Open the app and tap Create frame (New frame on the home screen).
Choose where the photos come from: Albums on this device or Pick photos on this device. Versions of the app that offer Google Photos also list Google Photos and Your phone (QR code).
For albums: under Choose albums, select the albums and tap Done. The frame starts playing, and album photos are copied into the album photo cache as they play.
For Pick photos on this device: select photos and videos in the system photo picker. They are saved to the device. Tap Start as soon as the first one is saved; the rest keep arriving while the frame plays.
On Android, when a frame first plays, Android shows a "Viewing full screen" panel at the top of the screen. Until you tap Got it, it appears each time a frame starts and Back does not reach the frame. After that it does not come back.
Put the device on a stand and leave it plugged in.

Tap the screen to show the controls: previous, pause, next, settings and exit. Swipe left or right to change photo.

Adding photos

Albums on this device (in versions that offer it): choose one or more albums. The frame plays the photos in them, and photos saved to those albums later join the frame. The first time, the device asks for permission to read photos; turn on Include videos to play the albums' videos too. On Android 14 and later you can allow selected photos only; then the frame shows only those, and new album photos appear after you allow access to them or to all photos. On iPhone and iPad you can allow full access or limited access; with limited access the frame plays only the photos you selected, and Select more photos in Choose albums adds more.
Pick photos on this device: the system photo picker opens. It takes up to 100 items at a time, so add more in several rounds.
Google Photos (in versions that offer it): Google asks you to sign in and allow access, then the Google Photos picker opens. Select items there and return to the app. The items are downloaded right away and kept on the device, so they play without an internet connection. The app cannot follow an album; to add newer photos, pick them again. Items you already added are skipped.
Your phone (QR code) (in versions that offer Google Photos): the frame shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone camera. The phone must be signed in to the Google account this frame is connected to. Pick photos in Google Photos on the phone and tap Done. The frame adds them.

To add photos to an existing frame, open the frame menu and choose Add photos. In versions that offer Google Photos, you can also add photos from your phone while a frame plays: tap the screen, then Settings > Add photos from your phone. The slideshow pauses while the code is shown. Shortly after you tap Done on your phone, the code closes and the slideshow resumes. New photos appear in the slideshow as they are added.

Starting when the device charges

On Android, the app starts on charge through the Android screen saver:

Open Android Settings > Display > Screen saver. On some devices it is under Display > Advanced.
Choose Photo Frame as the screen saver.
If there is a When to start option, set it to While charging.

The screen saver starts when the screen would turn off by itself while the device is charging, not at the moment you plug it in. A shorter screen timeout makes it start sooner. It shows the frame you played last.

Samsung Galaxy: many Galaxy phones have no screen saver setting. Use Modes and Routines instead: Settings > Modes and Routines > Routines > add a routine. Set If to Charging status: Charging, and Then to Open an app: Photo Frame. When the app opens it starts the last frame, if Resume last frame on launch is on in the app's Settings.

On iPhone and iPad, a Shortcuts automation opens the app when a charger is connected. The steps are also in the app's Settings, under Open when a charger is connected:

In Shortcuts, tap Automation, then New Automation or +. Choose Charger, Is Connected and Run Immediately, then tap Next. On iOS 15 and 16: in Shortcuts, tap Automation, then + if you already have automations. Tap Create Personal Automation, choose Charger and Is Connected, then tap Next.
Choose to create a blank automation. Add the Open App action, choose Photo Frame, and tap Done. On iOS 15 and 16: add the Open App action, choose Photo Frame, tap Next, turn off Ask Before Running, tap Don't Ask, then tap Done.
In the app's Settings, turn on Resume last frame on launch. The last frame plays when the app opens.

The app does not open over the lock screen, so connect the charger while the device is unlocked. To keep other apps from being opened, turn on Guided Access in Settings > Accessibility, then, in the app, triple-click the Home button (or the side or top button on a device without one). If a menu of accessibility shortcuts appears, choose Guided Access. The first time, tap Start, and set a passcode if asked.

iPad windows: on an iPad set to Windowed Apps (iPadOS 26), the frame plays in its window, and the frame's Screen orientation setting sets the window's shape rather than turning the screen. Make the window full screen for a frame that fills the screen.

Back key in the screen saver (Android): Back ends the screen saver straight away. Tap the screen to show the controls instead. In the app itself, Back first shows the controls, and a second Back leaves the frame.

Night schedule

The night schedule turns the screen black during the hours you set and starts the frame again in the morning, with no alarm or extra permission. During the night the app keeps the screen on at its lowest brightness so the frame can resume on time. On an LCD screen the backlight stays faintly lit; on an OLED screen black pixels give off no light.

Storage

Photos are saved at a size that suits the screen. Settings shows how much space each frame uses. Copies from Google Photos cannot be downloaded again once deleted; pick them again in Google Photos.

Photos from device albums are copied into the album photo cache as the frame plays them. By default it uses up to 1 GB or 10% of free space, whichever is smaller; change the limit under Settings > Album photo cache. When the cache is full, older copies are deleted and made again from the album when needed. Settings > Album photo cache > Clear album photo cache deletes the cached copies; the albums are not changed.

Photo access

If the frame says photo access is not allowed:

On Android, open Android Settings > Apps > Photo Frame (the app's name on the home screen) > Permissions > Photos and videos, and allow it.
On iPhone and iPad, tap Allow photo access in the app. If Settings opens, choose Photos > Full Access (All Photos on iOS 15 and 16) on the Photo Frame page: Settings > Apps > Photo Frame on iOS 18 and later, Settings > Photo Frame on iOS 17 and earlier.

Turning photo access off deletes the album photo copies; the albums on the device are not changed.

Deleting your data

Remove photos: open Manage photos for the frame, select items and remove them. Removing a photo from an album frame does not delete it from the album.
Delete a frame: open the frame menu and choose Delete.
Disconnect Google Photos in Settings. This revokes the app's access and deletes the app's copies of every photo and video from Google Photos. Your Google Photos library is not changed.
Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.

시작하기

앱을 열고 액자 만들기(홈 화면에서는 새 액자)를 누릅니다.
사진을 가져올 곳으로 이 기기의 앨범 또는 이 기기에서 사진 고르기를 선택합니다. Google 포토를 지원하는 버전에는 Google 포토와 휴대폰(QR 코드)도 표시됩니다.
앨범: 앨범 고르기에서 앨범을 선택하고 완료를 누릅니다. 액자가 바로 재생되며, 앨범 사진은 재생할 때 앨범 사진 캐시에 복사됩니다.
이 기기에서 사진 고르기: 시스템 사진 선택 도구에서 사진과 동영상을 고릅니다. 고른 항목은 기기에 저장됩니다. 첫 항목이 저장되면 시작을 누를 수 있고, 나머지는 재생하는 동안 계속 저장됩니다.
Android에서는 액자를 처음 재생하면 화면 위쪽에 Android의 전체 화면 안내가 나옵니다. 안내의 버튼을 누르기 전에는 액자를 시작할 때마다 나오고, 뒤로 버튼이 액자에 전달되지 않습니다. 한 번 누르면 다시 나오지 않습니다.
기기를 거치대에 올리고 충전기를 연결해 둡니다.

화면을 누르면 이전, 일시정지, 다음, 설정, 끝내기 버튼이 나타납니다. 왼쪽이나 오른쪽으로 밀면 사진이 바뀝니다.

사진 추가

이 기기의 앨범(지원하는 버전): 앨범을 하나 이상 고릅니다. 액자가 그 앨범의 사진을 재생하고, 나중에 그 앨범에 저장한 사진도 액자에 들어갑니다. 처음 고를 때 기기가 사진 읽기 권한을 묻습니다. 동영상 포함을 켜면 앨범의 동영상도 재생합니다. Android 14 이상에서는 선택한 사진만 허용할 수 있습니다. 이때 액자는 그 사진만 보여 주고, 앨범에 새로 저장한 사진은 그 사진의 접근을 허용하거나 모든 사진의 접근을 허용한 뒤에 재생됩니다. iPhone과 iPad에서는 전체 접근이나 제한된 접근을 허용할 수 있습니다. 제한된 접근에서는 선택한 사진만 재생하며, 앨범 고르기의 사진 더 선택으로 사진을 추가합니다.
이 기기에서 사진 고르기: 시스템 사진 선택 도구가 열립니다. 한 번에 최대 100개까지 고를 수 있으니 더 많이 넣으려면 여러 번 추가합니다.
Google 포토(지원하는 버전): Google 로그인과 접근 허용 화면이 나온 뒤 Google 포토 선택 화면이 열립니다. 항목을 고르고 앱으로 돌아오면 바로 내려받아 기기에 저장하므로 인터넷 연결 없이 재생됩니다. 앨범을 따라 자동으로 추가하지는 않습니다. 새 사진은 다시 골라서 추가하며, 이미 추가한 항목은 건너뜁니다.
휴대폰(QR 코드)(Google 포토를 지원하는 버전): 액자에 QR 코드가 나옵니다. 휴대폰 카메라로 스캔합니다. 휴대폰에서도 이 액자에 연결된 Google 계정으로 로그인해야 합니다. 휴대폰의 Google 포토에서 사진을 고른 뒤 완료를 누르면 액자에 추가됩니다.

이미 만든 액자에 사진을 추가하려면 액자 메뉴에서 사진 추가를 선택합니다. Google 포토를 지원하는 버전에서는 재생 중인 액자에 휴대폰으로도 사진을 추가할 수 있습니다. 화면을 누르고 설정 > 휴대폰으로 사진 추가를 누릅니다. 코드가 나와 있는 동안 슬라이드쇼는 멈춥니다. 휴대폰에서 완료를 누르면 잠시 뒤 코드가 닫히고 다시 재생됩니다. 새 사진은 추가되는 대로 슬라이드쇼에 나옵니다.

충전 중 자동 시작

Android에서는 충전 중 자동 시작이 Android 화면 보호기로 동작합니다.

Android 설정 > 디스플레이 > 화면 보호기를 엽니다. 기기에 따라 디스플레이 > 고급에 있습니다.
화면 보호기로 Photo Frame을 선택합니다.
시작 시점 항목이 있으면 충전 중으로 설정합니다.

화면 보호기는 충전기를 꽂는 순간이 아니라, 충전 중에 화면이 저절로 꺼질 시간이 되면 시작됩니다. 화면 자동 꺼짐 시간을 짧게 하면 더 빨리 시작됩니다. 마지막으로 재생한 액자가 나옵니다.

Samsung Galaxy: 화면 보호기 설정이 없는 Galaxy 휴대전화가 많습니다. 이때는 모드 및 루틴을 사용합니다. 설정 > 모드 및 루틴 > 루틴 > 루틴 추가에서 조건을 충전 상태: 충전 중으로, 실행할 동작을 앱 열기: Photo Frame으로 지정합니다. 앱 설정의 "앱을 열면 마지막 액자 재생"이 켜져 있으면 앱이 열릴 때 바로 재생합니다.

iPhone과 iPad에서는 단축어 앱의 자동화로 충전기를 연결하면 앱이 열리게 합니다. 앱의 설정 > 충전기를 연결하면 앱 열기에도 같은 단계가 있습니다.

단축어 앱에서 자동화를 누른 뒤 새로운 자동화 또는 +를 누릅니다. 충전기, 연결될 때, 즉시 실행을 차례로 선택하고 다음을 누릅니다. iOS 15와 16에서는 단축어 앱에서 자동화를 누르고, 이미 자동화가 있으면 +를 누릅니다. 개인용 자동화 생성을 누른 뒤 충전기와 연결될 때를 선택하고 다음을 누릅니다.
빈 자동화를 만드는 항목을 선택합니다. 앱 열기 동작을 추가하고 "Photo Frame" 앱을 선택한 뒤 완료를 누릅니다. iOS 15와 16에서는 앱 열기 동작을 추가하고 "Photo Frame" 앱을 선택한 뒤 다음을 누릅니다. 실행 전에 묻기를 끄고 ‘묻지 않음’을 누른 뒤 완료를 누릅니다.
앱의 설정에서 ‘앱을 열면 마지막 액자 재생’을 켭니다. 앱이 열리면 마지막 액자가 재생됩니다.

앱은 잠금 화면 위로 열리지 않으므로 기기 잠금을 해제한 상태에서 충전기를 연결합니다. 다른 앱으로 전환하지 못하게 하려면 설정 > 손쉬운 사용 > 사용법 유도를 켠 뒤, 앱에서 홈 버튼(홈 버튼이 없으면 측면 버튼 또는 상단 버튼)을 세 번 눌러 사용법 유도를 시작합니다. 손쉬운 사용 단축키 메뉴가 나오면 사용법 유도를 선택합니다. 처음에는 시작을 누르고, 암호를 설정하라는 안내가 나오면 암호를 설정합니다.

iPad 윈도우: iPadOS 26에서 윈도우형 앱을 쓰는 iPad에서는 액자가 앱 윈도우 안에서 재생되고, 액자의 화면 방향 설정은 화면을 돌리지 않고 윈도우 모양을 바꿉니다. 화면 전체에 재생하려면 윈도우를 전체 화면으로 키웁니다.

화면 보호기에서 뒤로 버튼(Android): 뒤로 버튼을 누르면 화면 보호기가 바로 끝납니다. 버튼을 보려면 화면을 누릅니다. 앱 안에서는 뒤로 버튼을 한 번 누르면 버튼이 나타나고, 한 번 더 누르면 액자를 닫습니다.

야간 일정

야간 일정을 켜면 정한 시간 동안 화면을 검게 하고 아침에 다시 재생합니다. 알람이나 추가 권한은 필요 없습니다. 제시간에 다시 재생하기 위해 밤에도 화면은 가장 낮은 밝기로 켜 둡니다. LCD 화면은 백라이트가 희미하게 켜져 있고, OLED 화면은 검은 부분이 빛을 내지 않습니다.

저장 공간

사진은 화면에 맞는 크기로 저장됩니다. 설정에서 액자마다 차지하는 용량을 볼 수 있습니다. Google 포토에서 가져온 사본은 지우면 다시 내려받을 수 없으니 Google 포토에서 다시 골라야 합니다.

액자에서 기기 앨범의 사진을 재생할 때 사진의 사본을 앨범 사진 캐시에 저장합니다. 기본 한도는 1GB와 남은 공간의 10% 중 작은 값이며, 설정 > 앨범 사진 캐시에서 한도를 바꿉니다. 캐시가 차면 오래된 사본을 지우고, 필요할 때 앨범에서 다시 만듭니다. 설정 > 앨범 사진 캐시 > 앨범 사진 캐시 비우기를 선택하면 캐시에 저장된 사본이 삭제되며 기기의 앨범은 바뀌지 않습니다.

사진 접근 권한

액자에 사진 접근 권한이 없다는 안내가 나오면 다음과 같이 합니다.

Android에서는 Android 설정 > 애플리케이션 > Photo Frame(홈 화면의 앱 이름) > 권한 > 사진 및 동영상에서 접근을 허용합니다.
iPhone과 iPad에서는 앱에서 사진 접근 허용을 누릅니다. 설정이 열리면 Photo Frame 설정 화면에서 사진 > 전체 접근(iOS 15와 16에서는 모든 사진)을 선택합니다. 이 화면은 iOS 18 이상에서는 설정 > 앱 > Photo Frame, iOS 17 이하에서는 설정 > Photo Frame에 있습니다.

사진 접근 권한을 해제하면 앨범 사진의 사본이 삭제되며 기기의 앨범은 바뀌지 않습니다.

데이터 삭제

사진 빼기: 액자의 사진 관리에서 항목을 선택해 뺍니다. 앨범 액자에서 사진을 빼도 앨범에서는 지워지지 않습니다.
액자 삭제: 액자 메뉴에서 삭제를 선택합니다.
설정에서 Google 포토 연결을 해제하면 앱의 접근 권한이 취소되고 Google 포토에서 이 앱으로 복사한 사진과 동영상이 모두 삭제됩니다. Google 포토 보관함은 바뀌지 않습니다.
앱을 삭제하면 앱이 저장한 정보가 모두 삭제됩니다.
